Watch the triumphant return home of this loggerhead sea turtle
A 103-pound loggerhead turtle, which rescuers nicknamed the “Sweet Potato,” has been released back into the sea after an injured fin was amputated at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, Fla.
After weeks of recovery and rehabilitation, the turtle was carefully carried on a stretcher to the waterfront before being released to cheers from a crowd of onlookers.
“We are thrilled to see Sweet Potato’s remarkable progress during his rehabilitation period and excited to witness his return to the sea,” said a spokesman for Loggerhead Marinelife Center.
