Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will have his prostate removed in surgery on Sunday, his office said in a statement.
Last Wednesday, Netanyahu, 75, underwent a check-up at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, during which doctors discovered an infection in his urinary tract caused by a benign enlargement of the prostate, the PMO said.
The statement added that Sunday’s Cabinet meeting would go ahead as scheduled.
However, some of the upcoming days when Netanyahu is scheduled to testify in his criminal trial could be delayed.
In March, the prime minister was placed under general anesthesia to undergo surgery for a hernia. That same month, he missed several days of work after contracting the flu.

Last year, Netanyahu underwent surgery to insert a pacemaker after suffering a “temporary heart block.” The operation came a week after he was hospitalized for dehydration.
The incident led to considerable speculation among many in Israel about the prime minister’s health and the extent to which details had been hidden from the public.

A medical report released in January said Netanyahu was in “completely normal health,” his pacemaker was working properly and there were no signs of cardiac arrhythmias or other problematic conditions.
Despite protocols requiring prime ministers to publish an annual health report, Netanyahu did not publish one between 2016 and the end of 2023. He could not be legally compelled to share his health information because these protocols developed by the PMO were not enshrined in law.
