The Air Force intercepted a UAV this evening (between Friday and Saturday) in the area of operation of the IDF forces in southern Lebanon, while another UAV exploded on Israeli territory near the border without casualties, previously two more UAVs exploded near the IDF forces. Against the backdrop of warming in the north and reports of a comprehensive regional agreement, Defense Minister Israel Katz sent a public message to Americans this evening: “Israel will not withdraw from the security zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza, and the IDF will not withdraw from the terrorist camps in Samaria.”
Katz clarified that he and the prime minister had instructed the IDF to maintain a willingness to take independent action to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, despite White House agreements. Meanwhile, the IDF announced that over 1,300 Hezbollah terrorists had been eliminated since the ceasefire took effect, including 11 field commanders who were recently foiled, and that the forces gained operational control north of the Saluki River on the final day. Activities also continue in Gaza, with the IDF confirming this evening that it has eliminated three Hamas and Islamic Jihad field commanders who were planning immediate attacks.
The last few hours suggest a real approach to a final agreement between the United States and Iran. The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Iran was in the process of formulating a final position and that most disputes had been resolved. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi claimed that “the end of the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon, will be announced within the framework of the interim agreement.” US President Trump and his deputy Vance made it clear that Tehran would not receive any funds and that the agreement was aimed at dismantling its nuclear program and opening the Strait of Hormuz.
The rapid progress comes after Trump announced he had canceled last-minute military action in favor of the deal – when the US military was just three hours away from a full-scale strike in Iran. After the surprise move, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with Trump and received a personal commitment from him that the final agreement would include removing the enriched material from Iran, dismantling enrichment infrastructure and ending Tehran’s support for the terrorist organizations.
