Rihanna Cast as Smurfette Voice in New Movie The Smurfs at CinemaCon
LAS VEGAS – This is good news for Smurfs: Rihanna is now a Smurf.
The music superstar made a surprise appearance at CinemaCon on Thursday to announce that she’s starring as Smurfette in The Smurfs Movie, a new live-action/animation hybrid due in theaters February 14, 2025 who will vote.
“I tried to get the Papa Smurf role but it didn’t work out,” the pregnant singer joked at the theater owners and studios convention. In addition to starring and producing, Rihanna also creates and performs original music for the film.
“It’s a pleasure. Making animation is a fun journey for me,” she added. “I’m usually the center of everything, but[with it]I can play a role and a role and I can imagine something. I can show up in my pajamas in my third trimester and play a little blue badass.

Paramount also announced an all-star animated film, Transformers: One (out June 19, 2024), starring Chris Hemsworth as young Optimus Prime and Brian Tyree Henry as young Megatron in a cast that also includes Scarlett Johansson, Laurence Fishburne, Keegan-Michael Key and Jon Hamm.
