Amazon proposed raising book delivery fees in France from almost nothing to around €2 if Parliament withdraws a bill that would make it harder for the e-commerce group to undercut local bookstores, a French senator told Reuters . Senator Laure Darcos said Amazon made the proposal for a minimum delivery fee of €1.80 to €2.00 ($2.03 to $2.25) when its vice president for books and Kindle content, David Naggar, on March 25 August met Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot in Paris. The proposal, details of which have not yet been reported, was part of months of lobbying by Amazon to scrap the bill, Darcos and five other lawmakers said.
