IDF: Palestinian throws explosives at forces in northern West Bank and is shot dead

A Palestinian who allegedly hurled an explosive device at Israeli soldiers during a raid in the Nablus area of the northern West Bank was shot dead early Sunday morning, the military said.

The IDF said the Samaria Regional Brigade reservists were not injured by the bomb.

The Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority Health Ministry said the man shot by the IDF was 19-year-old Hassan Ahmed Jamil Moussa and that he was killed in the Askar refugee camp at the eastern end of Nablus in the northern West Bank.

Majed Abu Kishk, the head of the Askar Services Committee, said the teenager was shot during a raid on the camp around midnight.

Abu Kishk said that when he was handed over to Palestinian emergency services, “he was already dead.”

According to the IDF, the vast majority of them were gunmen killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops, or terrorists who carried out attacks.

During the same period, 62 other people, including Israeli security personnel, were killed in terrorist attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another eight security force members were killed in clashes during raids on Palestinian towns in the West Bank.

The same period also saw a sharp increase in attacks by settler extremists against Palestinians across the West Bank.
