Four dozen said
Damascus, Syria-lifting fights between Syrian security forces and armed men who are loyal to the abandoned ruler Bashar al-Assad, killed 48 people on Thursday, said a war monitor.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the clashes in the coastal city of Jableh and adjacent villages “were the most violent attacks against the new authorities since Assad was fed in December”.
Pro-assaded fighters killed 16 security personnel, while 28 fighters became President Bashar al-Assad and four civilians “loyal” “loyal”, it said.
The struggles in the Mediterranean coastal province of Latakia, the core country of the Alawite minority of the repressed president, who were seen as bastions during his rule.

Knreifati said security forces would “work to eliminate their presence”. “We will restore the stability of the region and protect our people’s property,” he said.
Top officer arrested
The observatory based in the UK said that most of the security personnel killed came from the former rebel bastion of Idlib in the northwest.
During the operation, the security forces recorded and arrested a former head of Air Force Intelligence, one of the most trustworthy security authorities in the Assad family, reported the Sana state news agency.
“Our armed forces in the city of Jableh managed to arrest the criminal General Ibrahim Huweija,” said Sana.

Huweija, who headed the Air Force secretary services from 1987 to 2002, has long been a suspect in murdering the Lebanese Druze leader Kamal Bek Jumblatt.
His son and successor Walid Jumblatt tweeted the news of his arrest with the comment: “Allahu Akbar (God is greatest).”

The province’s security director said that security forces collided with armed men who were Loyal in another village in Latakia after the authorities had reported on helicopter strikes.

Helicopter strokes
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights had previously reported that “strikes of Syrian helicopters were started on armed men in the village of Beit Ana and in the surrounding forests and collapsed with artillery strikes on a neighboring village.”

The residents of Beit Ana, the birthplace of Suhail al-Hassan, broke out the tensions that prevented the security forces from arresting a person who was traded for the trade in weapons, said the observatory.
