Damascus, Syria-lifting fights between Syrian security forces and armed men who are loyal to the abandoned ruler Bashar al-Assad, killed 48 people on Thursday, said a war monitor.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the clashes in the coastal city of Jableh and adjacent villages “were the most violent attacks against the new authorities since Assad was fed in December”.
Pro-assaded fighters killed 16 security personnel, while 28 fighters became President Bashar al-Assad and four civilians “loyal” “loyal”, it said.

Knreifati said security forces would “work to eliminate their presence”. “We will restore the stability of the region and protect our people’s property,” he said.
Top officer arrested
The observatory based in the UK said that most of the security personnel killed came from the former rebel bastion of Idlib in the northwest.

The province’s security director said that security forces collided with armed men who were Loyal in another village in Latakia after the authorities had reported on helicopter strikes.

Helicopter strokes
