Are Cher and Alexander Edwards engaged?
Just days after her new beau gave her a giant diamond ring for Christmas, Cher continues to fuel engagement rumors with photos from her New Year’s party to 36-year-old music executive and rapper Alexander Edwards, also known as AE. On Jan. 1, the 76-year-old pop star shared two photos to Twitter from her night out with Edwards, both showing off their ring.
In the first photo, Edwards kisses Cher’s cheek while holding up her hand. She captioned the picture, “Happy New Year Daddy.” In the second picture, Edwards is holding Cher’s hand as she looks at him with a smile. “That should send you haters to The Part in Wizzard of OZ…WHEN DOROTHY threw WATER AT THE Wicked Witch and melted her,” she tweeted.

Cher first sparked engagement rumors on December 25 when the icon shared a photo of her diamond ring on Twitter. “There R No Words. ALEXANDER, AE,” she wrote next to the photo in her signature all-caps style.
The legendary pop star hasn’t officially confirmed the photo means she’s engaged, but in November, Cher confirmed they were dating. Cher representatives did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR’s request for comment on the possible engagement.

The age difference between Cher and Edwards initially caused some fans of the “Believe” singer to worry that she might be taken advantage of – a mindset she quickly shut down on Twitter. On a Dec. 2 episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Cher opened up about what makes her romance with Edwards work.
“It’s kind of ridiculous on paper,” Cher told the talk show host. “But in real life we get along great. He is fabulous. And I don’t give men qualities they don’t deserve.”
She added that Edwards was “very kind, very smart” and “very talented,” as well as “funny” and “handsome.” Ultimately, for the most part, the age difference isn’t an issue for Cher because younger men seem to understand her better.
She explained to Clarkson, “Older men just didn’t like me that much. You know what I mean? I had a few friends who were about my age but they just didn’t like me for some reason. And maybe younger men don’t care if you’re funny or rude and want to do silly things and you have the strong personality. I’m not giving up my personality for anyone, okay?”
After the singer was spotted with Edwards in November, the pop goddess officially addressed romance rumors on her Twitter on Nov. 6. She first tweeted a close-up photo of Edwards, wrote “Alexander” with a heart, and then responded to tweets from curious fans. When a follower asked if he was her “new man,” Cher simply responded with a smiley face and hearts emoji. She confirmed the couple met at Paris Fashion Week and that her entire family had met him.

The legendary singer also responded to a concerned fan who said they were “suspicious of his intentions,” writing, “As we all know… I WAS NOT BORN YESTERDAY & As far as I know for sure… There are no guarantees. Every time you make a choice you take a risk. I’ve always taken a risk…it’s WHO I am.” She added that Edwards treated her “like a 👑.”
On November 2, Cher was spotted with Edwards and Tyga as they headed to the star-studded Craig’s restaurant in Los Angeles. During what appeared to be a platonic dinner for three, Cher and Edwards were later photographed holding hands and looking quite comfortable outside the restaurant.
Cher was previously linked to Tim Medvetz, a former Hells Angels biker, before they reportedly split in 2013. She was also famously married to Sonny Bono and Gregg Allman. Edwards, on the other hand, has been dating Amber Rose, with whom he shares 2-year-old son Slash Electric Alexander Edwards. The couple were together from 2018 to 2021. Rose accused the music producer of infidelity and cheating with 12 wives, which Edwards later admitted.
